This project was approached from some combination of scientific, humurous, photographic,
and literary influences. The idea started as I sat one day wondering what the world looked like through my
dog’s eyes. I drove us into the mountains of Washington state, then documented our day as dictated
by my dog, Olive. I parked off of a forest road somewhere deep in the woods, asked her
which direction she wanted to go, and then followed. I followed her direction the entire day
into and through the forest, letting her take us both any way she chose to go. I made note of things
she found interesting, crawled through openings she fit more easily through, and even took
a sting from a hornet when she decided to pass by a hive.
The photos were printed, written on to include field notes, and now exist as a physical form of documentation
to flip through.
